  • Draining / adding tranny fluid.

A friend recommended an additive the other day when we where talking and my tranny (and it’s mildly hard stiff shifting at 180K) came up.

He mentioned I may want to consider putting in an additive by Lucas.

Cheap enough, figured what the hell, and I have used their stuff in my engines for years, but my question in is. Is it possible to drain only a small amount of fluid from the tranny with OUT breaking the seal on the pan, or do I need to take off the pan, and replace it (I am about to go change my oil tonight and will look, never have before ^_^)?

Also, for adding the stabilizer, I was thinking of just putting it down the little tube that you use to check your level. The ends are small enough to fit….

    Sorry if it’s a silly question. :)

i would never use any kind of additive
the manufacture of the car and the oil manufacturer wouldnt advise that.

the only way to drain the fluid is to drop the oil pan
