How to install the tranny?

i installed the flexplate/driveplate onto the engine.
then installed the torque convertor onto the flexplate/driveplate.
dropped the engine in. and tried to get the tranny to mate with the engine.

the tranny is like an inch on the top 2 bolts away from being flush with the engine. I've been trying to use c-clamps, but they just slide off

think I should take it all apart so I can put the T.C. (alone) in the tranny.
then mate the T.C. with the Driveplate?

Any advice?

Exactly ... put the TC on the tranny input shaft first, then lower the engine in and line up ... lastly, bolt the TC to the flywheel. Good Luck
