The reason I ask is I have ready and easy access to a few 700r4 tranny's, and mine is getting a little shot, and I would rather not rebuild it simply because I plan on putting a 5spd in it next year.
if i remember correctly there are basically the same tranny. but i think the
4L60-e is the beefier of the 2.
According to the reading I did on them they are both rated to hold around 400hp, the main problem with the 700R4 was either in the tranny, the torque convertor that was used in the cars or the rear gear I don't remember, but in the 40-45mph area, you really had to keep it in drive instead of OD because it would constantly shift between the two gears, and burn your tranny.
