  • Any V6 6-spds?

I don't see much discussion here about swapping T56 six-speeds into V6 cars.

    How many have done it?

    Was it a tough job?

I wouldn't convert a stock v6 to a T56. If I had a blower, maybe. T56 ratios are far, far too tall for a v6 motor's torque. You'll slow the car down if you do that compared to a T5. Unless you're past ~300 HP, use the T5 if you want a stick.

As far as I know, no one here has done it. It's been talked about quite a few times, but the bellhousing is totally different and getting this to work would require alot of metal forging/fabrication. And there's an issue with the gearing. Try a search, you'll see...

I looked into it and without a custom fabbed bellhousing it is impossible

You need a custom belhousing, or somesort of adapter plat, possible differnet sized(maybe custom) input shaft.

and considering alot of 6-speeds used that need rebuilding are still like $800...

you can get a built 5-speed put in.

PS the gearing in the 6-speed is not that bad, it can be compensated ofr with rear gears.

I don't think an adapter plate would work either. Once you move the bellhousing away from the engine by using another plate (no matter how slight the distance), you risk having the shifter and driveshaft not fitting properly anymore, not to mention the torque arm, crossmember, etc.

not to mention how close the bolts are up top anyway. any further back and you wouldnt be able to get the bellhousing bolts on and off and the transmission would be very hard to line up. the only way it seems like this would work is to have a custom made bellhousing. no adapter plate at all.
