    Re: rear end

    i have a 96 camaro with 3.08s but check for a code on the inside of the door or in the glove box

    Rear end Gear codes are as follows:

    GU2=2.73- v8 only
    GU4=3.08- open differential(means no lsd)
    GU5=3.23
    GU6=3.42

    and yeah all f-bodies are most def 2 wheel drive if your asking if it has posi..? no idea.. do a burn out and find out if it has the 1-wheel-spin or not

      Re: rear end

      well i know 1 wheel spins cuz i actually felt the car try to turn during the burnout and eventualy the other wheel turns as well...least thats what it felt like..that the case? and the question was what the name was for these rear ends since its not posi.

            Re: rear end

            yeah, if only one tire spins.. you have open differential.. no lsd or posi. you can check out what kind of gears you have by checking your RPO codes.. inside ur glove box or on the side the door.

                No, that means you have 3.42's gears. G80 means you have LSD. Its possible to have 3.42's without LSD, if thats the case, it may have been specially ordered that way from the factory to a dealership.
