thats a 700R4, not a 4L60E, so i dont think its electrically controlled or something, im really not knowledgeable with the automatics, but i know thats not your stock tranny

I don't THINK the 700R4 will bolt up to the 3800 motor, but I'm not 100% sure about that. Do a search in this section about the 700R4, see what comes up.
I would look for a 4l60-E transmission as a replacement, if it's not possible to have yours rebuilt.

you have to be careful, this is why i didnt buy a new tranny, but a rebuild kit.
even if you get a 4l60e, there are several different bolt patterns out there, and asking a guy on ebay if yours will bolt up is like a taylor asking a man with two penis', whos trying on a new pair of pants, if he hangs to the right or the left........."yes"

I am close to being in the same boat. By trany is VERY close to going. I just received this e-mail from a shop.

shops come and go. My transmissions are extremely durable and can take a
beating. Believe me, you will not be disappointed.
Let me know what type of shift you are looking for. Stage one shift, is
factory. Stage two shift is a nice crisp shift, and at wide open throttle it
will
put you in your seat. It is my biggest seller! Stage three shift is very
violent. It is for full competition or a Saturday night special. Neck brace not
included! No extra charge to set up shifts.
