    ***BIG EDIT***
I didnt shatter the spec, I just found out I shattered 3rd gear in the transmission. Spec clutch = 100% perfect. Please ignore the spec statements below, now that I know its the transmission. I have a new tranny going in Tuesday - this is a mess of a thing.

    Hi,
I shattered my spec stage 2, normal driving, put it in 3rd gear and clangitty clang clang clang. Pretty damn sure its the clutch and it only has 17,000 miles on it.

Would anyone here vouch for a centerforce or something different? Has anyone else shattered a spec? I don't really know what to buy, but right now I'm just leaning towards another brand. Stock GM clutch was slipping at 30,000 so thats why I replaced it - 47000 on the car now.

Please Reply with some good info.

I shift quite well, Im not sure why it failed. Couldve been I just got a bad clutch from the start but it definitely failed. Most people dont run the stage 2, I shouldve just got a stage 3 from the get go. Would you recommend a centerforce DF?

Ordered a centerforce DF tonight - installing it tuesday when it gets here. I will post results on the board and perhaps some photos.

A stock clutch after 30k and a Spec after only 17k? Damn, you are hard on clutches... I've got 165k miles and still the original stock clutch.

damn I was just going to offer you my spec II....

Mine has not given me any issues that an aftermarket clutch would not give you.

Well if anyone wants a spec II, I have on in my car now, roughly 8k miles on it, been in less then a year, only 6 or so passes at that track.

I want a stocker, just can't justify buying a new clutch and doing all the work if I don't have anyone interested in buying the spec II.

What's wrong with the Spec 2 that you want to go back to stock?

I always figured if my clutch ever went out I'd upgrade to something like that. Actually I've heard the Centerforce DF had an easier engagement. Is the Spec 2 just too harsh for daily driving?

Its liveable... some people don't notice a difference, and some say its waaay to grabby.

its definitley grabbier then stock. My car is pretty much stock and I don't really race it anymore, eventually will be sold off. And its easier to sell a stock car, vs. a car with a "grabby" clutch.

But it doesn't bother me enough to actually put all the effort forward to swap it out.

and if you are interested in any sort of modding, a clutch is a great mod, makes driving alot more fun, when you do that 1-2 and 2-3 shift.

is stage 3 too much for a mostly stock car though?

N/A yea,i understand that. but all i wanted to know was if stage 3 was too much, i was looking at stage 2+ but theres not much of a price diffence between 2+ and 3.
