Bought an Aluminum Driveshaft but..

so i bought an aluminum driveshaft, i take out the 2pc p.o.s. stock steel driveshaft.. throw the aluminum one on. The piece that connects to the tranny fits perfectly but the bottom of the driveshaft doesnt. Looks like the ujoints on the aluminum one are wider.. so what should i do, thought about swapping them but then thought the it might rattle and move back and forth if i did. what do you guys recommand me doing..

have you actually tried bolting it in, because it is somewhat of a tight squeeze
maybe you bought one from a modded car and they had upgraded?

^^Agreed, but don't try to force it into place if it's too large or you'll end up with a much bigger problem. I had to lightly sand some dirt on old grease buildup from inside of the rearend fitting in order to fit my aluminum driveshaft. If it still doesn't want to work, just go to Autozone or similar auto store and buy new u-joins. they "should" be compatible without any problems.

thanks guys, and no the aluminum driveshaft was stock outta an Ls1. I knew it was the U-joint all along but was wondering if that was my only options. they didnt have the ujoints at autozone so i went somewhere else.. getting tomorrow after school. $20 :( oh well. thanks again guys.

they free up HP you normally lose, "parastetic lose" (something spelled much like that)

a alumin. ds takes away weight from the rotating assembly, resulting in about 5-10 hp freed up.
