How is aluminum stronger? or better balanced?

            Re: I need a 2-piece driveshaft

Now I'm wondering if it will even bolt up to an LS1 car? Where does the center support bearing bolt to the car?

im pretty sure it'll bolt up. The LS1 DS' fit on the v6s meaning theyre interchangible. Why would youwant a 2 piece ds?

                Re: I need a 2-piece driveshaft

why on earth would you want a 2 piece... its junk.

i heard the only reason GM did used them is they had alot of small driveshafts around and they modified them into 2 pieces.

They are the heaviest of all, they are the weakest of all.

If an aluminum is too much, then go with a 1 piece steel.

If you have vibration or other issues, just take the thing to a drivetrain shop and have the u-joints replaced and balanced.

As for the 2 piece, you need a 2 piece driveshaft car torque arm as well, that where the center bearing bolts on to.

I think you are plum retarded if you put a 2 piece in. That thing gave me and caused troubles in my 3.4L, it sucked.

                  Re: I need a 2-piece driveshaft

The reason GM used them is that they don't vibrate like the 1-piece driveshafts do. Thats the reason I wanted one. They are much more expensive to make, so there is a reason GM used them.

Price has nothing to do with it. This is for a 98 formula, it came with the aluminum from the factory.

My 99 v6 also has the aluminum, and it has the same vibration problems, as the 98, but the 98 is a 6-speed, so its much more annoying.

I appreciate all the help, but I'm going carbonfiber. rather than go to the trouble of swapping the torque arm.

                    Re: I need a 2-piece driveshaft

just take it to a drivetrain shop, get them to rebalance it.

I have had 2 seperate 1 piece steel, and one aluminum and I NEVER had a vibration problem with one of them.

I did have a huge problem with my 2 piece when the center bearing went bad.
