Ive heard that stock '94 V6 comes with 2.73 ratio. Would it be worth my money to put in a set of 3.42s or should i just stick with stocks?

Re: Ring/Pinion
"The stock rear end for a fourth generation F-Body (both V6 and V8) is a 28-tooth, 10-bolt, 7 5/8" rear. There are two carriers (differentials) available: a two-series and a three-series. If your car came stock with 2.73 or 3.08 gears then you have a two-series carrier; if your car came stock with 3.23 or 3.42 gears then you have a three-series. If you plan to use 3.73, 4.10, or even higher gears, you will need a three-series." right out of the Modifications Encylopedia at the top of the page
if you do the swap you 1/4 times will be better(how much ?) but you'll loose milageLast edited by auto666; 11-03-2006, 06:54 PM.

Re: Ring/Pinion
All 3.4's came with a 3.23 gear ratio. You can confirm by looking for the GU5 in your RPO codes inside the glovebox.
Going to a 3.42 is a noticeable difference, but definitely not worth it to pay for a gear install. Unless you're swapping an entire rear that comes with 3.42's.1994 Firebird 3.4<br />15.65 @ 86.8<br /><a href=\"http://www.funkz.net/firebird.htm\" target=\"_blank\">funkz.net/firebird</a><br /><a href=\"http://mywebpages.comcast.net/funkz/timeslips.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Timeslips</a>
