What lubricant do I use?

Well since the transmission is out of the car and salvage motor is getting picked up and swapped next week, what kind of lubrication does the T-5 need? Gear oil? Weight? etc. etc. Also is there anything I can do to 'clean out' the transmission before we put it back in there besides just drain it? Tranny has 110k and has had a lot of grinding in those years so a cleaning might not be a bad idea. I really don't want to tear into the internals though. So,
1. What type of oil/lubrication does the T-5 from a 99 camaro use?
2. Anything I can do to prep/clean the transmission without opening it up?

water based. anything oil based will enhance the possibility of STD's.

God you all beat me to it, damn I was gonna go with KY too. That should keep everything nice and smooth so you don't build up too much friction and heat.

The manual transmissions we have take Dextron III automatic transmission fluid. Yes, our t-5's are supposed to be filled with auto trans fluid. I flush-n-fill mine every 10,000 miles. A bit extreme, but I have nothing else better to do with my time.:)
