  • Differential gasket change

I have a question related to replacing the differential gasket. Do I need to use any type of sealant on the metal surfaces, or do I just put on the new gasket and tighten that down?

u shold use a gasket sealer. i dont think u have to, but it could cause leaks down the road. i always use sealer. dont over do it with the sealer either

personally i wouldnt even use a gasket just good silicon but if your going to use one put a small bead on both sides of the gasket to make up for surface abnormalities(?) an make sure you clean both surfaces well

I would recommend not using sealant. just the gasket

I would say use a small bead of sealer in addition to using a gasket.

I just used a gasket on my differential when I changed the fluid and it leaks. Not to the point where it drips on the ground, but the fluid has leaked around the diff area.....and yes, I cleaned both the diff housing and diff cover surfaces.

You're a certified GM mechanic right? Have you done this particular job?

He should know right? Should I be able to get rtv at any auto parts place?

                      Re: Differential gasket change

I would recommend the gasket only as adding sealant will change the amount of material in between the two metal surfaces.

Don't let him lie. I saw him at the Honda factory working on a vehicle. He is a spy for those ricer's. He is gathering up information on domestics and relaying it back to his ricer gang so they can try to figure out what torque is, and why it's important.

I say we tie him up and feed him to this guy --->
