  • New clutch assembly

I got a Christmas bonus and it's time for a clutch. Since i would like a better clutch then stock and i'm not gonna run any major power adders i think this is what i'm gonna buy:
    Centerforce dual friction
    Clutch Master
    Clutch Slave W/ Bearing
    Pilot bushing.
    I have a few questions.
#1 Does the clutch master usally come with the braided line that connects to the slave? Summit has both the master for $65.95 & the slave for $79.95 and i thought i'd order them together. #2 Should I get the master & slave from Advance or other autoparts store and would any of them come with the braided line? #3 Can I use synthetic fluid in the clutch hydraulics?
#4 Does the GM assembly come with the Throw-out bearing?

Replace the slave and buy a Spec-2. My SPEC outlived the transmission :) I was able to break 3rd gear with it, and the thing looks new after 18000 miles but engages like stock under all conditions. Nothing wrong with a centerforce, but it costs more for no reason.

The clutch master cylinder should always come with that steel braided line. In fact, you can't just buy that line by itself. When that line rusted out and broke on my car, I had to buy the entire master just to replace the line.

If you're interested in performance you might want to do the drill mod while you have the line off the car.

I have the Spec-3, which seems to be a good clutch that can handle the power from my nitrous system well and also have the ability to break my 3rd gear, lol. However, the something in the clutch has started making a rattling/squealing sound the last few months, although performance hasn't been affected.

The 'pictures' that autozone and napa have of the master cylinder don't contain the braided hose. Does the hose still come with it, or did you have to order the master cylinder from the dealer in order to get the braided hose.

You have to re-use your line, unless you get the master from the dealer. The dealer price really is'nt that bad and it's pre-bled to.
