i have on its way a set of 3.42 gears and lsd it came out of a 1998 z28 is there any other part i am going to need for the swap?

LSD Additive...you need to add that with the diff. fluid...look in your manual

bearings and shims, at least. Also, unless he has like an Auburn-style differential, he doesn't need gear oil with special additives

GM LSDs require a special LSD additive

the LSD that's in the 1998 y-87 is the Auburn, so I would imagine that would be in the SS as well...
