Alright, I've been doing all kinds of searches on this forum and can't find what I'm looking for. I have found out enough on here to know that I have 3.23 gears, but not sure if it is an open differential or not. If I've read right, 3.23's only came in the 3-series....right?. I was wondering if there is another way to find out besides doing a burnout and checking for 2 tire marks, haha. It's a 5-speed 99' Camaro and anymore information on this would be great. Thank you.

Re: A little confused about gears
Check the RPO Codes, they are located on drivers side door. Im pretty sure G80 means LSD, also check to see if a Y87 is in their that means you would have the LSD also along with some other goodies. Best bet is to go out and give em a spin.

Re: A little confused about gears
Look at your RPO codes on your driver side door panel.

if you have a G80 then you got a limited slip.Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.

Re: A little confused about gears
it is pretty easy to just do a quick burnout, it doesn't hurt to do one little one.

Another way is to put the back on a lift or hoist, then rotate one back tire and see what happens with the other tire if it spins the same direction or opposite
