On a 97 3.8 manual transmission, there is a hole where you can check the level of oil in there, I've also heard this is where you drain it from. Is this correct?
If so, where exactly is it located?
And if that isn't the spot, how exactly do I go about draining the oil from my manual tranny? I want to get this done today, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
im pretty sure there is a tranny pan, similar to the oil pan. Im pretty sure there are 2 plugs, 1 to drain and 1 at the top to check the level. I think you need a 3/8 rachet to check it
now tell me, does it make since in your head that the same hole to check the level is also used to drain it?
their is another plug down lower obviously but just pull the pan off.
I'm so glad you said that. I was about ready to flip my car upside down so I could drain the fluids. I thought those holes to check were the only place to empty. Whew you save me a lot of future problems. Thank you.
Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.
I don't remember exactly what I was trying to think about, but it is now long forgotten. I know where/how to drain the tranny fluid.........now it's really bugging me that I can't remember what I wanted to know about the "fluid check hole"
Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
