I will be rebuilding my tranny (well, having it rebuilt for me) so i'll have the tranny out of my car. I figure I might as well put in a stall converter, as I hear the acceleration difference is awesome. Do I need to just buy the stall converter?? any other parts I should be concerned about switching? also, how exactly is the stall converter mounted on there?? is it like just bolted onto the tranny or something? sorry if thats a stupid question.. lol

Re: stall converter
first off you need to decide on the size stall you want, 2800, 3000, 3500, 3800 etc. Are you going FI or nitrous in the future, sticking NA, stroking, etc.
Then visit http://www.performabuiltautomatics.com/ for excellent pricing on TC's and even rebuilt trannies if you want one from them. Like 1200 for one that can handle 500hp.

Re: stall converter
I've talked briefly with performabuilt already. He suggested a 3500 stall to me.. so I have that all taken care of. I was just wondering if there was some other things i should consider checking while I am replacing it, and how difficult it is to replace. Is it better to let a shop handle it, or can I do it pretty easily? thanks!
