I was searching around and i noticed ppl saying that shift kits are a really good mod. My car seems to shift fine now but i was wondering what a shift kit does? also how much would one cost? I searched alot but couldn't really find these answers.
It increases the firmness of each shift, shifts faster. Theyre about $100. But the install is the $$ part.

i got a b & m shift enhancer which works great and you deffinitely can tell a difference and its really easy to install. its jst two wires and its only like 44$
I have a Tranksgo Stage 3 shift kit with a raptor billet servo. It is my understanding that Transgo is the best shift kit out there for our transmission. The user can decide whether they want stage 1, 2, or 3. Its all the same kit, each stage is just adding more washers.
I have a "doctored up" stage 3 and it shifts hard. Screeches the tires from 1st to 2nd everytime. It does not hurt the tranny at all. Though when it shifts very hard like mine I have to check my universal joints on the driveshaft from time to time. Install runs around $2-$350 in most places. Mine was $200.
Basically the car holds the gear until the shift rpm of your tranny. Fast chips made mine 6500 so until the car reaches that point, it won't shift. Or if i take my foot off the gas the car will shift. It has a manual feel to it.
I personally like it, but with my neck snapping shifting i can't shift on corners because the car will break loose if its raining or what not.
I would say a well done stage 2 is perfect in most applications.
