    1997 3.8 5 speed 98k miles

Okay, so when I really get on it...I shift and the RPMs slowly drop down. I'm guessing the clutch is starting to go? Or it will be soon with the mileage and all. My question is...how big of a repair is this? Hours...days...hundreds of dollars? Also, what type of clutch would be best?

    Re: Clutch

while im not good at diagnosing anything, I know that if it is your clutch then you have to think what kind of clutch you are looking for.... if you want performance then get a spec clutch, they are $350++, my stage two was about $380... install prices can be from 250$-500$ depending on where you go, but it can be done at home with a couple people and some basic tools....

      Re: Clutch

To start, if you dont have any major mods, and dont plan on any (ie forced induction or nitrous) then an oem replacement should be fine.

The first time I did mine it took about 8 hours total. The second time I did mine because of a defective clutch plate we did it in three hours.

Any decent shop will probably bill you for about 4 hours.

        Re: Clutch

I have the same car, 97 camaro 5 speed, my clutch is about dead.

i just got a new clutch, i just ordered OEM spec clutch, cost me about 300 dollars.

Doing the swap myself at a friends house, not a bad job if u know what your doing, but if you dont know.. then i wouldnt suggest doing it.

and taking it to a shop will more than likely cost you alot.
