does it shift fine? i have to bleed mine like 8 times when i changed mine, i know you said you already bled it, but it seems to take 5-6 times.1998 bright red camaro ,M5 ,Y87 ,stock

Originally posted by Rune:
If it smells like a turd and looks like a turd, chances are its probably not a candy bar.

Re: problem after new clutch install
can the master cylinder start to go out or is it a all at once thing? they shop quoted me 50 bucks labor, so it seems like its worth that just not to hassle with it. i will try bleeding somemore though, it cant hurt.

Re: problem after new clutch install
when mine went I was driving the car in traffic with no problems, proably 30 or 40 shifts went to go from 2nd to third and it went, no warning or anything. You say that the petal feels spongy, care to elaborate? is it not returning quickly, the resistance less than expected? Does it just not want to come out of or go into gear? Is the clutch releasing but slower than you think it should? You might just be having to get used to the feel of the new clutch.
On that note was the slave cylinder changed when you had the clutch done? I hope so, it shouldn't have been much more in labor.
If you know what you are doing actually changing the master cylinder can be done in about 30 minutes with the help of someone else. The only tough part is getting the U-bolt back on. Since you have never done it before maybe an hour. Now bleeding it is another story, when I bled mine after changing I had my fiancee on top working the clutch so I could open the valve under the car. By the time it was done her leg was hurting. Proably 30 to 45 minutes to bleed the system. It's more a pain and messy than anything else. If you do decide to do it do yourself a favor and use some sort of saftey glasses under the car. Brake fluid is not good for the eyes.-Brad

Re: problem after new clutch install
by spongey i mean the pedal has little stiffness to it at all. it seems like its releasing slower then it should as well. the slave cylinder was not changed... is the slave and master cylinder one in the same or two diffrent pieces all together?
