Re: aftermarket M5
I'm a potty mouth.
Mod note: If no one's answered and search hasn't helped, and you know who makes replacement gear sets for the T5, it's a simple matter to call the manufacturer and ask them directly. You might even get the right answer.Last edited by zlexiss; 02-14-2007, 02:43 PM.

Re: aftermarket M5
which is a wonderful idea but...... none of the manufactures have put the v8 gear ratios in a v6 car before so hence the reason for asking if anyone else out there has done it, but it really don't matter cause that's the way it's getting built cause I'm tired of breaking them. If i don't like it ill switch rear gears again.

www.gforcetransmissions.com
they sell a kit for the t5... and I believe they will build one for you as well. They make them for the V6 as of last year when I checked.\'97 Camaro M5 Y87 3.23 LSD, homebrew CAI, highfloCat, Flowmaster catback, Pacesetter headers, specstage3 clutch and aluminum flywheel, !egr, 2kW system.

Possible L67 bottom end w/ abbott heads and a turbo in the works... gotta do more homework

Re: aftermarket M5
I understand they make new gear sets I'm getting one installed into my t5 now. however none of the gear sets are the low ratio like for the v6 they are all higher gear ratios like for v8 cars like the 3rd gen camaros and all t5 mustangs. sorry for not wording the question right, what i meant has anyone put the v8 (higher) ratios in their t5 in a v6 how did it affect it did you like it? but if I dont like it ill change the rear gear to a 4.10 to make up for the trans gears.

Re: aftermarket M5
You're not going to be able to swap gearsets between transmission models (T56 to T5 and so on). They're just not built that way.Drivetrain Moderator - "There are no stupid questions, only stupid people!"

The first tab is the stock T5 from a 4th gen V6 F-Body. The second tab is the upgraded gear set & ratios (and .59 overdrive) from G-Force with the stock final drive ratio. You can see from the first tab that the stock gear ratios provide terrible shift points that are horrible for performance. The upgraded gear ratios from G-Force help optimize performance by putting you closer to peak torque (YMMV) at each shift.
Take a look and play around with it. Maybe this will give you an idea of what to expect.
