i personaly have not used one but the b&m shift kits that you put into the trany are good. i helped one of my friends put one in and with two people it doen't take but 30 to an hour to put it in and the shift changing is night and day. i am looking at shift kits for my car aswell and if you get it lets us know how it works. i haven't really heard really positive or negitive out looks on that. good luck

Re: B&M shift plus electronic shift improver

i just put one in the other day as a matter of fact. theyre right at $50 through a local auto parts store or summit/jegs after shipping. i had used one before but on a different car. i figured id give it a shot on a 4th gen f body.
they take 15 minutes including routing the wiring. if have absolutely no experience an hour at the longest.
two wires tapped into the ecm harness, mount the switch (more on that in a minute) and route the wires. most of the work is involved in removing trim panels to hide the wiring, which consists of a single wire with a small box inline, and removing the ecm from its mounting bracket. that pretty much is the work. so long as you can read you can do the install.
its foolproof if you just pay attention to that one step that tells you which wires to tap into. they even tell you colors and numbers of the wires.

the switch part... theres a 3 way switch; stock, stage 1, stage 2. stock is well... stock. trans shifts like you hadnt done anything. stage1 really dosent seem to make much difference at first, but it shows on the 1-2 shift and more on the 2-3.
stage 2 really brings out the quick shifts. u-joint wrenching stuff, you can actually hear the pump in the trans working harder... 3800s should bark the tires on the 1-2 shift.
then you can go back to stock again, like you never touched it.

how many other shift kits can you select what kind of shifting you want at any given time?
only drawbacks are 98 and up you have to shut the car off for the switch to take effect. 97 and older its whenever you flip the switch. sounds cheesy (a switch?) but it truly works.
for what it costs and more so what it takes to install i give it both thumbs up.

i would imagine that is going to do the same thing that a tune would, but with different levels

that sounds sweet but on the jegs site it says that it is for years 94 to 98. can it be used on a 99? im assuming it can by the previous post saying how the car hasto be turned off.

I think I might buy one of these for now instead of a complete kit.
