I don't know if this is normal but when I give my car a little bit of gas, (not flooring) it seems to hesitate switching from 1st to 2nd gear. Its not a smooth switch. I don't know much about cars (I'm trying to learn) but I drove a ford escort for 2 years before my firebird and it never felt hesitation like that, and it doesn't seem normal to me. My car has 46000 on it and the transmission fluid has never been changed. Could that be the problem? Or could it be that I need to get my fuel injectors cleaned because I don't think the lady that owned the car before me had it ever done?
i would do all the maint on it. get some seafoam, new oil. tranny fluid, maybe change the gear oil, new belt, fuel filter. etc. see where you are at. put some good gas in the next time of 2. could be something that simple.
well I've done about all the maintenance on the car, got injectors cleaned, fuel filter changed, tranny flushed and filter replaced, new belt, and oil changed. All that and I still get the lag switching from 1st to 2nd. Its like the engine revs up high and lags there for a couple seconds and then switches. I dunno if this is normal but its kind of annoying. I haven't tried putting in a higher octane gas yet but isnt it bad to switch gas types?
