Lets get the details out of the way first, I have a 1996 camaro 3.8L, with a bit of motor work done, but still has the stock t-5.
When I let off of the clutch and the throttle, it gives a grinding 'whirring' noise coming from the transmission area. Its only when there is signifigant load on the gear (ie, when its in the higher rpm range of a gear, and I let off the throttle and clutch). By all means I believe its an output shaft bearing.
If it is, is there somewhere I can buy that seperately? I really dont want to rebuild this tranny, or buy another one.
