I'm replacing the clutch in my 2000 Camaro and I have run into a problem.
With everything disconnected I unbolted the trans and got it to break free
of the locator pins. I begain to slide her back and she hit the tunnel so I tilt
the engine back till it stops. I get the trans out to the point that the input
shaft catches on the diaphram fingers of the pressure plate! I use a pry bar to move the fingers away and out comes the trans.
My problem is the engine will not tilt back any further because at the back of the intake there is a nipple with the vacuum hose that goes the the brake booster. When I go to re-install the trans I don't want to bend the fingers on my new Centerforce DF clutch.
Can I hammer the transmission tunnel for the needed clearance? Or is there something I'm over looking?
