Alright. I have been searching all the forums for an answer and it just so happens this problem happened at the same time as installation of the rear end. The problem:
When turning at slow speeds a Popping or grinding noise happens, but at higher speeds doesn’t seem apparent. Squeaking can be heard making turns at slow speed but again, not at high speed.
If you have LSD especially if you have aftermarket gears, there will be some low noise squeaking or a rubbing sound and this seems to be normal. The squeaking is the axles traveling to the rear wheel opposite of the turn forcing the rotor to press against the outside brake pad causing race or cheap pad to squeak. Fix: Ceramic brake pads will rid the higher louder squeaking noise leaving those of you with LSDs with the LSD noise and gear whine.
The grinding that happens should only happen the 1999-2002 cars that are equipped with the drum style parking brake inside of the rotor. The brake shoe like most drum systems receives brake grease between the shoe and the backing plate. If grease was applied sloppily or overtime applied it self to the drum surface, the heat seems to make it stickier and the parking brake show catches under slow speeds making a popping sound. Fix: replace the shoe and hardware as well as the rear rotors. Hint on the rotor it says not to machine the drum side so don’t.
I hope this helps some of you that have encountered the same problem. I was going nuts thinking that I set my rear end wrong and redoing it many times before I saw the grease and researched the pad squeak.
