so i have a 98 camaro with 110k miles on it. most of the miles are all higway since the owner before me used it for fleet. when i go over 50 miles it starts to shift a little hard into second gear, but it only does that on long trips. in town it works just fine and today it was running all fine but the service engine light soon came on. and it was code p1870. somone said i should change the tranny fluid and filter but im not sure it will start slipping.

yea thats what i heard but is there a kit i can get. the tranny shop said they had to machine it out. because it was made out of aluminum and they needed to make one out of some other material

they told me they coudnt do it from a kit they had to machine it out. they told me it would be better off just rebuilding the whole tranny because they have alot of problems with it and in the future the reverse starts haveing problems. but if push comes to shove im just gonna drop the tranny and put a manual 6 spd perferably.

From A4 to M6, good luck with that. I had this problem with my previous camaro and I just took it to a local shop and they removed the valve body, cleaned , updated and reinstalled it" + new fluid and filter =$350. Oh btw, search noob :poke:. This topic has been discussed a lot http://forum.camarov6.com/search.php?searchid=116186

I've got the same problem, went to 3 "reputable" independent tranny shops...

2 of them told me "don't bother, just rebuild the trans"

the third told me the Sonnax kit, plus labor, would amount to $700

there is no need for a tranny rebuild. your trans mechanically is fine
