i got a 97 firebird with a 2pc driveshaft, can i lower it or do i need a 1pc shaft?...this might be in the wrong section lol

    Re: driveshaft

You defintely don't need to put in a 1 piece to lower your car. However, a 1 piece will give you a bit more acceleration. :)

would it really be for nothing? sounds like you have plans to swap the DS in the near future, but lack the experience of actually doing the swap. Practice makes perfect, and it'll be physically much easier to swap the DS a second time compared to the first time

                  Re: driveshaft

It will fit. 82-02 driveshafts will fit in our cars, however, the yoke may be different, depending on the model of the car. I think the formula should have the right yoke. If you don't get it, try and find an aluminum one (98+ SS Camaros), instead of the standard steel (All 98+ F-Bodies, and 82-97 V8 versions). It'll be about10lbs lighter, and still strong enough. Atleast, this is what I've come to understand from researching when I bought mine.

If your gonna get a 1 piece shaft then get an aluminum shaft from a LS1 car.

Where are you getting your information from? All LS1-equipped F-bodies have an alum. DS, not just Camaro SS's...Not sure about the 3rd gen's, but in the 4th gen., V6's were the only 98+'s to get a steel driveshaft

first the formula is free, second it is better the a 2pc

there is a 93-97 firebird formula in the junkyard down the road, if the 3rd formula don't work

I'd go with the alum ds. You might as well spend the little bit of extra cash, for in the long run, you're gonna want to upgrade it anyways
