I am thinking about changing my AT fluid. It's only been 20k miles since last change but I would like to switch to synthetic so that my tranny lasts longer. HOw much tranny fluid I have buy? (how many quarts/gallons)? This is what I am thinking to buy https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/atf.aspx I am at around 96K miles. Is it ok to change to synthetic at 96K miles? THanks
I think it will be fine to chang to synthetic. I reccomend Royal Purple AT fluid if you can find it and have the money for it. Our cars take a little over 9 guarts if you are completely flushing out the verter.

+1 to everything he said except the amount of fluid you need. If you want to flush everything out, you should get an extra quart or 2. The problem is, not all the dirt gets removed from the system. If you know someone that works at a shop and has a t-tech machine, you may wanna take advantage of it. I work at valvoline and did mine in about 10 minutes, although I used semi-synthetic tranny fluid.

its only bad for your car when its not used to synthetic for a long period of time, and then u switch it, you could possibly find more leaks and stuff like that. For the most part, its better.
