  • screaching noise from the tranny?

For the past little while I've had a lot of noise coming from what seems to be the back end of my 94 auto 3.4l, especially on the highway. I checked the differential fluid and that seems to be fine. I jacked up the right side of the car and spun the rear wheel and I can hear a slight to moderately loud screaching noise. Its not the rear wheel bearing. My father crawled under the car and says the noise isn't coming from the hanger bearing either. He says its definitly coming from further up towards the front of the car in the tranny area (likely the from inside the tranny itself). What could this be?

im having that same issues with my 94 pontiac bird A4. Once my car is warmed up it seems thats when it starts happening. Sound like loose metal almost jumping around. Right near the tranny as you said before.

Back when i heard this sound, i adjusted my torque converter metal housing around it, right behind the tranny. I think that the vibrations of the car were making this flex plate rattle with the tranny and torque converter. I dont no if thats the problem, but it might be. Just trying to give some input.

Also have your torque converter and tranny looked at.

BTW, how do u like the maintenance repaires on your car? What are some things that you have replaced or gone bad on your car besides the normal maintenance things. Just wondering for my own knowledge of my car.

I've owned the car for a year and a half and besides oil changes and spark plugs I've done hardly any maintenance. Gonna do a coolant flush and change the plugs and wires soon. I'm gonna look into the torque converter as well. Thanks for the suggestion.
