  • 3.42's

I have a 2000 camaro auto w/ out the Y87 package and I am GUESSING I have 3.08's because my car is auto. But I want to put 3.42's for better acceleration and stuff. What are all the parts I need to buy to do this swap? Thanx

yeah I Got 3.42's. Well that's weird because When I plugged in my hypertech programmer it asked me If i put any gears in and 3.42 was on the list. Shouldn't the programmer have picked up on that ??

No, a programmer has no way of telling what gears you've got. That's why it asked you. :D

Yes, that way your speedo will will be calibrated to tell you the proper speed.

It seems that i have factory 3.42's and i am guessing that they are already calibrated to it.

                    Re: 3.42's

If your car came with 3.42s then the speedo IS already calibrated for them.

Not if he told the programmer that he had 3.08's when he programmed it last. He will have to rerun the programmer and tell it the propper gear ratio... at least I would think he would.

If you've never done gears I would have someone else install them or buy a whole rear end from a junk yard. Carvers over in Indianna has them for 250. I called Wednesday
