Has anyone ever looked or even bought and installed this. I was looking at RK sport for the first time in like a year and saw this. I am wondering if thre are an reviews. Is this kind of like a shift kit? Can it really help lengthen your transmission life? I am getting ready to change my filter and fluid so I am kind of sort of concidering maybee getting this. Any opinions. http://rksport.com/main/part_detail....mdid=4&catid=3
from what i have been told and from what i have read they do help with tranny life, how much i dont know. if your not framiliar with your tranny i would have someone with experiance help you, they are not too hard to put in but you may get overwhelmed when you see how many parts are in there. your car is going to shift harder, so for a daily driver it might not be what your looking for. i just installed a B&M shift plus in my car, you dont even touch the tranny to put it in, it plugs into your PCM and tells the computer to put more line pressure into your tranny, it firms up the shifts and i think makes it shift a little faster. but the best thing is you can turn it on and off, when your just cruising you can leave it in stock mode, or when you get on it click it into a harder shift mode. they only take about 15 min to put in. B&M also claims this will lengthen tranny life, they only cost $40 for the kit.
i got mine from summitracing.com it wont come up if you search by make and model. its part # BMM-70380 its a universal unit for 4l60 and 4l60e trannys up to 1998 or possibly later. the kit gave me instructions for a 3.4 and a 3.8 camaro, i can dig up the instructions and see what it says for you and ill post up what i find latter. if your camaro is between the years of 93-98 i guarentee it will work for you. all i had to do to hook mine up was, splice two wires into one of the PCM ports (wire splicers included) instructions tell you in detail what wires to splice into. then run the wire through the firewall and mount the "unit" in the car. took me about 10-20 min. working at a pretty slow pace. the shifts arnt going to be "neck-snaping" hard but it will firm them up a bit and it pretty much eliminates the long delay between shifts
