2 Piece Steel DS to Aluminum

I have a 97 with a 2 piece steel, and I'm getting an aluminum. Anyone ever put their car on a dyno and actually see how much hp you gain? Any idea on the weight reduction?

but the alum drive shaft will be an improvement over the 2 piece

I have searched. And all I see are people comparing the 1 piece steel to the aluminum one. Isnt the 2 piece steel heavier than the 1 piece?

im pretty sure the two piece is heavier than the once piece.
dont quote me but i it should free up 1 maybe 2 rwhp.
plus you have less rotating mass.

According to the mods encyclopedia the two piece is 25lbs and the aluminum is 10lbs. I went from a one piece steel to an aluminum and still feel like it pulls a little harder maybe...of course I put my exhaust on about then too but whatever, gotta be better than the steel

dude do it...best mod in the world...That single mod, which cost me 80$ to do gave me more results than any of the other mods I've done to my car to this point...I've heard that it frees up about 19-20 rwhp...I didnt believe it at first, but now I wouldnt be surprised...my other mods incase your wondering are exhaust, headers, intake, wp underdrive pulley, msd coils, wires...the driveshaft still gave me the most noticable power gains

a buddy of mine did this, and i agree you feel a very small gain.. maybe 3-5hp

Well right now I just have a catco cat, msd ignition, flowmaster exhaust, slp intake, and I have my aluminum one sitting in the garage. I figured Id get at least 7-9 hp out of it. Since mine is the 2 piece steel stock.

going from 2pc to 1pc alum will net you .2 in the 1/4 mile

It frees up horsepower, does not add it

I said I heard somewhere didnt say it was true...actually I believe it was on here someone dynoed it...Im sure if you searched enough you would eventually find it...since it wasnt too long ago...anyways if its a 3-5 hp gain then I apparently must not have gained anything from my cat back, headers...or the rest of the mods I've done...despite the fact that I felt quite a noticible difference with them and this mod was about double that....

and yes...it frees up horsepower doesnt give you any

no luck w/ the search for the dyno results. :(... well i guess some people swear by it, others say it does nothing..

I will get one eventually..

going from 1pc steel to 1pc alum is not going to net you much results, but going from the 2pc boat anchor to alum will net results

btw what models are 2pc used on?? i have a 1 piece steel on my 3.8 firebird.. pretty sure the same on the maro
