  • rear-end swap/traction control help

    i have traction control now and the rear-end that i might get does not have tc. is this going to cause a problem other than not have traction control any more. will it have any effects on the computer.

    in addtion what would happen if you put a rear end with traction control on a car that doesnt have traction control? sorry to highjack haha

      i think you will lose ABS in both situations. A 3 channel has a single speed sensor that reads a reluctor ring next to the ring gear. The 4 channel has two sensors/tone rings per axle.

        ok i have a 2002 w/ traction control and i only have 1 sensor in the rear. are the v8 rear-end different. if anybody has done a rear-end swap i want to hear about how it went.

            i read that link and it dosen't answer my question. is there such a thing as a 3 channel v8 rear w/ tc. also if i get a three channel v8 rear without tc will my abs work?

                ok then what v6 cars are 4 channel bc mine is a 2002 v6 w/ tc, open diff and is a 3 channel

                    I don't think TC came on V6's....but I could be wrong.

                    I went through a swap and had to match it up correctly otherwise I would oose ABS, so that's what could happen with the wrong rear.

                    1998 White Camaro 3800, A4, MagnaFlow Cat-Back, Zexel & 3.42's, Jet Chip Stage 2, Whisper Lid, and Ram Air.

                        or how bout you just install a posi into your current rear, instead of trying to make two different designs fit together?

                          well i would but it is the differance of about 400 bucks
                          and i wouldnt be getting the higher gear ratio

                            not really. If you're planning on buying this rear axle, which is what your heart seems set on, just take the posi unit out and put it in your car. Also, with higher gears, you'll need to recalibrate your shift points if you're an auto, and you'll need to adjust the speedo regardless of tranny type.
