T-5 NWC (Non World Class) and WC (World Class) years

Does anyone know the different years that the T-5 NWC (non world class) and WC (World Class) were used because I am trying to figure out if my T-5 Transmission in my 1995 Camaro is NWC or WC. Also, would the T-5 WC transmissions be able to be hooked up to a V8? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The T5 in our V6 cars are World class.

Non-World Class transmissions are up to 1987
from then on they are World Class (1988 and up)

The T5 World Class transmissions for V8 is factory rated to 305 lbs-ft,
but probably a bit underrated because of mileage stuff. Ours are maybe the same or a bit less, anybody knows?

But V8 T5`s have 2.95 first gear
while our T5 has 3.75 first gear

Which could be a bit short on a V8? (and much load on first gear, which it probably would get anyway though...:rolleyes: )

The input is 26-spline and output is 27-spline on V8-T5`s
I belive our V6 T5`s have the same splines,

So you could bolt it on a V8, but you need to change the bellhousing. :)

A Non-World Class T-5 is factory rated to 275 lbs-ft.

I dont know about Ford T-5, but i do know that the Ford main-case to bellhousing bolt pattern is different than GM cases..

There are some "non-performance" cars that still had Non-World Class T-5 after 1988, probably cars like 4-cylinder S-10 and such.

Hmm.. I was reading HOT ROD and discovered something that i didn`t know!

In the pit stop section where you can send in questions.

The answer to the question was that the T-5 in our cars are rated to
230 lb-ft, that does not sound like much, especially since the stock torque on a 3.8 is 225lb-ft.

But they probably know what they are talking about.

But the weird thing is it that has an Ford style main case to bellhousing bolt pattern instead og GM pattern, and that the input shaft is the same length as on a Ford T-5, It is a bit longer on this T-5 than a traditional GM manual
transmission in other words.

But the rest is the same though, and they did not recommend it behind a V8..

It stood in the Februar 08 HOT ROD.

I guess its a weird transmission then...
