    Re: which fluid

I used the Royal Purple when I changed my fluid last time, and to be honest I haven't noticed any difference. Not that I would expect to - you don't really expect to notice a difference in the way the tranny works, just like you don't expect to notice a difference in the way your engine runs when you go from cheap oil to Mobil1. You just expect it to last a whole lot longer.

If you want the best, Royal Purple and Red Line are generally considered the top of the line fluids, and there are plenty of guys who swear by Amsoil too.

                Re: which fluid

3/8" with an extension. No socket, just the bare end of the 3/8" extension. It's like some diesel oil plugs.

                  Re: which fluid

uhh that sucks. i tried that (extension wont fit in fill plug) and i couldnt get either one to turn. the ratchet would barely go in because of the little ball thing on the ratchet that holds the socket. dont they have square sockets for stuff like this?

                        Re: which fluid

You might be able to find a square socket, But I used the extension. Just push hard and the little ball will pop in, it's designed to hold sockets onto the end.

                            Re: which fluid

You sure it's a 3/8"? For some reason I thought I had to use a 1/2". Anyway, you'll probably need something with more leverage than a standard ratchet; if you can, try and get one of those long handled breaker bars with the 1/2"(or 3/8", whichever it is) socket end. Or, if you don't have one of those, get a 12" - 16" piece of pipe that will fit over the ratchet handle to give you some extra leverage. Also, it's a good idea to put some anti-seize on the threads of the plugs when you put them back. That way they'll be much easier to get out next time. Oh, and one last thing - you're going to have to pump the fluid into the tranny, so you might want to pick up one of those cheap Pep Boys fluid transfer pumps before you get started.

                            Good luck.
