What will i need to install 3.73's

I need to know what parts im going to need to install 3.73's in my car.


i know i need

the gears
and a new rear end

but what specifically on the new rear end?

a friend is going to install if i can get all the parts.
he use to be a mechanic and is only charging 150 for the new rear end and gears to be installed.

So what exactly will i need?

Well is the Rear End going to come with the LSD, posi, or spool??

Why do you need a new rear end? You can put the 3.73's in your stock housing. Make sure you toss a posi in while you're at it, otherwise the only thing those gears will be good for is killing gas mileage.

yeah, just pull the axlesout enough to get the old diff out and throw in an eaton posi or auburn lsd while you're putting the gears in and you're good to go

Just remember, if you have a 3.08 stock rear, you need a 2 series gear and carrier. 3.23 and 3.42 use 3 series gears and carriers

gears, LSD, then you just need a ring and pinion gear installation kit if he has all the tools.

also, you can get 2-series gears in 2.73, 3.08, 3.23, 3.42, 3.73, 4.10, and 4.56's.

yea, good to go get a busted rear end. The pinion depth on our cars has to be set to within a thousandth of an inch; any greivance in either direction, and the rear end will fail prematurely, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage. Leave it to a professional

no kidding there's more to it than what I said, hell you can't change engine oil in three steps, but we're not talking rocket science here...follow the steps, and if you read the OP he's having someone do it who is a former professional.

my point was you can reuse the rear end you just need gears and a diff.

I think he said i should get a rear end out of a z28
for these reasons

Will be posi
will have disc brakes on back instead of drum.
and he said something about the fact that i wont need other ****.

im not too sure.
im not much into the specifics.
i need to look more into it.

and he said all i should need is the rear end out of a z28 and some gears, and he could get it done.
and the back breaks would be better.

its a 3.42 zexel, 4 channel abs, i believe

this is out of a z28. would this work? with the rearend gears?

Correct me If I am wrong boys, but weren't the 93-97's 3 channel abs's?

But yeah, worst case scenario, you pull the zexel and gears out of the Z28 housing and put it in your housing... if I'm right about the ABS
