tranny question

will a v8 tranny bolt up to a v6 engine.... i have a 2002 camaro v6 and i dont see why it wouldnt fit the bolt pattern is the same.... i have a 4l60e transmission..... i know that the v8 tranny has more splines for the tourque converter than a v6 but im getting an aftermarket tourque converter....

If the aftermarket converter is the same input shaft as a V8 4L60E, then more than likely it will not be the right size for a V6 Flywheel.

i have heard of this being done with manuals

i dont see why you would want to do this though, it is the same exact transmission, if yours is shot, why not take the input shaft from the v6 and stick it on the v8 transmission?

im sure that would save you a lot of time, but i cant really speak i dont know too much about aut otransmissions

Because in order to do that, you'd you have to replace the whole input drum, and once you open the case of an automatic trans, you have to replace ALL of the seals...

With manuals you can swap them from a V8, but since all 4th gen V8's came with t-56 6 speeds, it really isn't a good idea unless you have some sort of good power adder...the only person i know of on our board that has a t-56 behind a v6 also is the only one i've seen on the board putting down over 600 rwhp...
