  • Rear end Q's

I have open 3.08's on my camaro, A friend of mine gave me a 3.42 ring and pinion towards getting 3.42's and posi...

Was told that I will need a 3 series carrier? Does that mean the whole rear end housing or specific parts?

I know nothing about rear ends so sorry if its a newb question.

Edit: Read the FAQ, I now know the "carrier" is another name for posi, lsd etc... But is it the whole housing or just a part inside the housing is what I need to know now.

    Thanks.

So all I'd have to do is get the part(3 series carrier) And install it along with the 3.42 ring and pinion in the stock housing I have and be all set?

installing a carrier is something an amatuer could handle

That's all the parts you'll need

          Yeah why not? :D
Because the pinion needs to be set to within a thousandth of an inch, and any greivance in either direction will cause the gears to fail prematurely, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage....that's "why not"
