where it enters the transmission, or the differential?

i guess they could both be considered gear boxes...

well. the driveshaft never enters the rear. it bolts up to it. the only thing the driveshaft enters is the tranny tail. so if you're referring to the rear end, you used the wrong term by saying gearbox lol, judging from the pinion seal, you are talking about the rear. if it is the tranny, then we need to know whether its an 4L60E(A4) or a T5 (5 speed). if its an auto, you need a new tailshaft bushing. i have one sitting around. but let us know exactly what you're referring to so we can help you!

              they arent that hard

you just need to make sure you put a mark on everything before you loosen things, and count how many times the bolt turns to put it back on

you NEED to put it on exactly the way it cam out, or there will be problems

I did it yesterday, its not to hard but you neet a (i think it´s called) puller, to get off the joke.

Remove the 4 screws from the yoke, move the shaft toward the Trans and fix it
with a screwdriver over the ? ( this thing beside the shaft). Than you can mark the nut an remove it with 32mm nut.
After that you can remove the yoke with the puller and then the shaft seal with a screwdriver + hammer

                greetings from austria
