My girlfriends v6 camaro tranny may be taking a ****, its starting to shift hard... im going to swap out th efilter and flush the fluid, but if it doesnt fix it they have a pick your part (pull your own parts) shop having 50% off so I can get a a4 tranny complete for like 60 bucks, are all fbody automatic transmission the same, or is there wiring differences etc? thanks!

if i remember correctly, the 93-94 tranny's were vac-operated 4l60's, and 95 was the first year for the 4l60e...i'm not sure if the belhousing for the 3.4's and 3.8's are the same, but if nobody else chimes in, just to be sure i'd try n find one from a 95

Anyone have a more solid answer ? :( i see a bunch of 3.8 @ the junkyard and the tranny is really starting to slip now, I also heard different trannys have different torque converters, I just put in 3.73 gears too

          So will a 3.8 4l60e fit into a 3.4 4l60e car or not?

do you know why it is slipping?

the torque converter is seperate of the transmission, so if your old one is fine, then you can keep it.

the transmissions are the same internally, the only thing you need to look out for is the bellhousing, which according to wikipedia is the same

Allot of bad info in that post.

The torque converter should never be re used. It picks up debris from the trans that is going out because they share the same fluid and once the debris is in the converter there is no way to get it out of a lock up converter, except cut it open .

The electronics on the valve body changed from year to year and may not be compatible with the PCM so it would be best to stay with a 95.

you could probably get a 94 as well.

coincidently you could probably get a 4l60E tranny for your 93 car as long as you swap to a 94 or 95 pcm.

There is no "e" for the 93 trans. It has no electronics except for the lock up solenoid. They were just called 4L60 or 700R4's.

yeah i know that, which is why i said you could swap to a 4l60E as long as you switched to a 94 or 95 pcm.

                      get it??

                          not really....

its like 40 bux for a pcm.

And then you find out it doesn't work because the value of this or that sensor changed from 93 to 95.

what it comes down to is that if i need a tranny for my 93 and all i can find is a 4l60E, then it's probably worth a shot to buy it and get a pcm from the same year.
