well my rear has been making noise since i put a auburn LSD in it i never changed the bearings it came with) so i ripped it out bought new bearings and cups changed it out added gm lube and valvoline 80w90 test drive sounds great no problems 300 miles later noise is back.. wtf! what is my problem?!?!?
well, did you re-shim it to match? just cause its the same unit doesnt mean that it will keep the gears aligned.... you probably have too much/not enough backspacing...
when is it making noise? acceleration, or deceleration?
Check to see if your pinon bolt has back out, they are TTY.

i used the stock shims on my auburn after i replaced the bearings and caps on the carrier i had to drive the shim in with a rubber mallet it was so tight
