  • wake up kit vs. shift kit?

So I have to order an 1870 fix from PATC, I called them and asked their opinion on shift kits also, and they seemed to think that a wake up kit is a little bit nicer deal.

Description from 4l60-e.com - √ #32. 4L60E, Wake your 4L60E transmission up with this kit. You get the high performance intermediate billet servo, you get the high performance overdrive billet servo and the oversize pressure boost valve. These three parts will wake up your 4L60E and can be installed without removing the transmission or valve body. Ask for the 4L60E Wake Up Kit. (6 or more kits for $169.00 each, save 15.1%) (The pressure valve will not fit 2005 up transmissions.) Cost $199.00

I was just wondering if anybody had installed one of these or had it installed by a pro..either way I just wanted to know what they thought of it. I see lots of talk when i search on corvette servos and people seem to like those. That and I see a lot of people like their shift kits....so I guess I am just asking input on what you guys would get. Or should I rock a shift kit plus a corvette servo or maybe even the entire wake up kit too?? Thanks.

I did the Transgo shift kit HD I believe, it came in a blue box. Got it on ebay for like $85-90 new. I also did the Vette Servo($20), the mechanic I think used one washer and I tuned it with Hptuners , It is a beast when you want to get on it.

cool, im sure you will enjoy the transgo. if you have not installed one before then jsut watchthe video a few times and have it cued up as you are doing the actual removal and install. read the instructions a few times while watching the video as well. remember, the instructions DONT match eveything in the video. the written instructions ARE KING. the video is mainly a basic how too. having the video is still VERY helpful for first time around.

make a note of the many bolts for final install and keep track of them along the way. keep everything clean and be patient. i thought it was pretty fun seeing and removing the valve body and removing and replacing the different components.

If the instructions seem overwhelming just remember to perform the different valve spring/valve replacements one at a time and you will find yourself working your way through the instructions.

i can only imagine what putting 2 or 3 spacers in the 1-2 shift accumulator thingy would have been like. i went with one spacer there and then swapped out whatever springs and such came with the 1-2 shift. with that one spacer and my tranny having only 35k miles it shifts very firm and chirpy from 1-2 and i wouldnt want any more whashers for a daily driver that my friends and girl friend ride in. "DOH!... sorry about your neck and spilled coffee dear... that must have hurt. " "what? where are you going? come back! i will get a mustang instead, i promis....'

its not too bad, if the paper directions arent good enough you could prolly find a video on you tube
