new auto shift knob

I just bought a hurst T handle shift knob and Im tring to install it on my auto shifter. I got it on and it will shift but the shift engager does not disengage when I shift into park. Because of this it wont let me take the keys out of the ignition. Is there anyway to get around this problem?

there is an adapter you can buy that makes it possible. when installed, you push the whole shift knob down to disengage the lock...look around on LS1tech for an auto shift knob thread, you'll find the link to purchase the adapter there
