so as many of you saw from me complaining on here for like the past month. i was having some troble with my car post header install well. after getting over it and getting back to bussiness finally got my car running right again headers are helping out my power and all is well. shortly after i got my headers i also ordered a posi track unit. 28 spline which to my knowlege is the correct one. i know a few members on here have done that swap i checked the how tos and serched it now info on a posi install. so if i promise not to be such a winer about this one anybody got some advice?

Re: posi swap how too
it's pretty straight forward...removing the old carrier is not that hard; just need to pull the axles, and undo the bearing caps, take the ring gear off the old carrier. Install is the reverse...just put the ring gear on the new carrier, bearing caps over the ends of the carrier, then do what you need to do to get the axlerods in. We'd be better able to help ya if you gave us specific parts of the install that you think you'll have problems with...IMHO, it's all pretty straight forward, so it's hard for one, such as myself, to give advice with such broad parameters

Re: posi swap how too
thanks smoke i mean i guess theres only really one spot for it to go so i see where your coming from. from just looking at it theres the central area of my rear axel that has the current open differtial inside so basically i take the blots off that to open it up remove the "bearing caps" slide out the new unit place the bearing caps, bolt on the plate covering the unit and im done? will i need to change rear diff fluid anything like that?

Re: posi swap how too
Just make sure you keep everything separate and put it all back where it came from. There are shims on either side of the carrier that MUST go back on the same side they came from. The same goes for the bearing caps and bearing races. Also if you DON'T have traction control then there will also be a reluctor ring around the carrier behind the ring gear that you must swap over to the new carrier. It's a pretty simple swap.-Travis
99 Trans Am, Pewter, A4 Forged, stalled, and cammed
85 Buick Regal WH1 T-Type It\'d be cool if it ran...
94 Camaro 3.4, Teal, M5 The daily beater
