Anyone ever hear of this?

[1997 Firebird]

Looking at a 1998 Firebird V6 with the automatic tranny. Car looks cherry with no problems. But he wrote this "Car also has 2nd gear start which helps the car grip in low traction by starting it out in 2nd gear" I have never heard of this and was wondering if it is true or if the kid messed up the car. I have always had a 5-speed Fbody or my current line up of three 6-speeds. If i get this car I would be selling the Camaro which is a 95 with 2002 SS Front conversion, or use the Camaro LT1 as a daily and say the hell with the V6. Just wondering if this tranny is on its last few miles.

Thanks!! Kid is trading me the 98 with WS6 body conversion ( hood, bumpers, hatch, wheels) plus $1000 so i might get it as the daily driver now. Thanks once again!

Mine has that as well, little switch next to the fog light switch. I don't think I've used it once.

Yeah, it has it.

But don't use it.
It will mess with your torque converter if you use it too much.
Feather the throttle and you will have NO problem in snow or rain. I didn't, and I'm in Upstate NY.

I used Second Gear Start in a suprise north Georgia ice storm once...worked like a charm.

Thanks for the info. Yeah don't plan to use it much at all. Its going to be my daily back and forth to work and have the WS6 for around town and both cars will be stored for winter.

I used a few times and my trans got stuck in 2nd gear :rolleyes:

Dont use it...
