  • Am I screwed?

I was driving with my dad the other day and he was hearing this strange sound from the rear of the car. I guess I'm just used to it, because I didn't hear it, but 've started to think about it and my gears feel a little looser than they used to...

like when I drop the clutch, sometimes it'll feel like its sticking for a sec, even though the pedal is coming up (or it could just be my lead foot revving it too much). It might just be my imagination, but ever since I switched to 93, I've noticed some wierd things going on in my rpms. It used to feel kinda like my rpms would race up to 3500/4000 and then creep slowly to redline- which I thought was nice because I was getting more power up there, but now I wonder if maybe some gears were slipping? Its pretty subtle (the diff in rpms)

anyway, how long to I have?

it feels like it just got worse. When I push the gas, the motor will rev until about 3k before it starts to move. I'm not going to drive tomorrow. I'm thinking either clutch or rear. What are the symptoms of a dead t.o. bearing?

meanwhile I'm going to go check my fluid levels, could be something annoying like that. (I kinda hope so, since that would be the cheapest fix)

If its manual, you should be able to control how high the motor revs before it moves.... how long have you driven a stick?

about a year. Thats why I think I have a problem. the clutch is out, yet its still revving. Thought there was a problem with the petal at first

You release the parking brake? lol

Sounds like a clutch problem. Might need a rebuild on the tranny? Do you smell anything like burning oil or see smoke when you do this?

lol yes. no smoke. My nose is a little plugged, but I'd prolly smell it anyway. Car seems otherwise okay

Maybe a slipping clutch... tried giving it gas under high load in a high gear? (30mph in 5th or something)

a little, I didn't drive it today. It seems to do better with the higher gears, most issues in 1st or second.

a good idea. I checked the fluid in there and its pretty nasty colored. But its brake fluid right?- which seems to turn kind of gross over time. Think I could have some sort of blockage?
