  • Transmision shifting RPM's

I just recently purchased a 2000 V6 Camaro it has about 73,000 miles on her. After a month or so of driving it. I noticed that it shifts from 1st gear to second gear at about 2800-3100 RPM's Is this about normal in early mornings. After she heats up a bit she's a little sooner about 2800 RPMs. Fluid level is correct by dipstick. I have never own a camaro before, just wanted to get some reasurance that I didn't buy a problem car. Thanks for your help.

    It goes by throttle percentage..

At WOT you will shift at the predetermined shift point (what's stock? like 5,800 or so?).

So the less you hit the gas the sooner it will shift, and vice versa. When you pass a certain threshold (throttle position), you will downshift if you are at "slow" enough speed.

Either way, your car is probably normal. Unless you are shifting 2800-3100 @ WOT then you have some issues.. But I doubt that's the case. lol

Sounds about right. If I accelerate somewhat easy my car will shift all gears at 2500 rpm. With a little more throttle it will shift at about 2900-3000 rpm.

Under normal driving, its by throttle percentage. Under WOT its by MPH.

At WOT it has to meet the MPH and the RPM set points before it shifts.
