how many check balls are in the valve body of the 4l60e transmission? I am currently installing a shift kit and have only 6 check balls in the valve body(where the instructions say there will be 7) and there's one above the separator plate. Am I supposed to have 7? or is 6 ok? thanks

IIRC you NEED 7. losing them is bad news....there should be a little diagram on your paper instructions showing the position of all of the check balls, it doesn't have a number i don't think but if you can't count that high you have issues. haha. if i make it to the shop tomorrow i will check my instructions and double check, but 99% sure there are 7. -

I'm pretty sure it's a total of 7, including the one above the separator plate.
