I have had this p1870 code for the last 10-15k miles and from what I gather I have a few solutions. I can replace trans with a new one for $2000 total (trans, labor, tax) which includes 300,000 mile warranty. I could also just update the valve body for about $300 - $400 total, but I hear that is just a temporary fix. My question is to people who have updated the valve body, how long have you had it fixed like this? or how long did it last? I'm assuming each case varies depending on the extent of the damage to the transmission caused by this problem. I have no idea what else is damaged in my trans but the symptoms I'm experiencing are hard shifts from 1st to 2nd after long drives on the interstate but all of the gears still work, even when it gets hot.
